No Extradition Request for Apollo Quiboloy from US, Says DFA

MANILA: The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines has confirmed that it has not yet received a formal extradition request from the United States for Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC). This statement was made by DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo during a session with the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.

According to Philippines News Agency, Manalo informed the Senate committee that while the Philippines has an extradition treaty with the United States, no request regarding Quiboloy has been submitted. He assured lawmakers that the DFA is prepared to respond should such a request be made. Manalo outlined the general process for handling extradition requests, stating that the DFA would initially review any request to ensure compliance with established procedures before forwarding it to the Department of Justice for further action.

Quiboloy faces serious allegations, including charges by a federal grand jury in the United States f
or conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion, as well as sex trafficking of children, conspiracy, and bulk cash smuggling. Despite these charges, no related extradition request has been made to the Philippines.

The extradition treaty between the Philippines and the United States was signed in Manila on November 13, 1994, and became effective on November 22, 1996. In addition to the extradition issue, Manalo reported that no requests for assistance have been received from Philippine nationals in the United States who may be victims of human trafficking connected to the Quiboloy case. He emphasized that the DFA is ready to assist any alleged victims in the US who might seek help.
