North Korea Denounces G7 Defense Ministers Meeting as “War Contractor Group”

SEOUL: North Korea has publicly criticized the recent gathering of the Group of Seven (G7) defense ministers, labeling the coalition a “war contractor group” in response to their censure of Pyongyang’s nuclear policy. The G7, comprising seven leading industrial nations, held its inaugural defense ministers meeting in Naples last week, where members reiterated their support for Ukraine and condemned North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile initiatives while voicing concerns over its military ties with Russia.

According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea rebuked the G7 for meddling in global security issues despite lacking authority over sovereign states. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) released a statement accusing the G7 of being an extension of U.S. influence, describing it as a “shadow” that maligns North Korea’s nuclear policy without a clear direction. The statement further branded the G7 as a “harasser of peace” and a “war merchant.”

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), North Kore
a’s formal name, declared that the G7’s involvement in Korean Peninsula affairs serves U.S.-led hegemonic interests, likening it to the expansionist aims of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. North Korea warned that any attempts to undermine its sovereign rights would incur significant repercussions.

This denunciation follows confirmations by South Korea and the U.S. that approximately 3,000 North Korean troops were deployed to eastern Russia earlier this month, indicating stronger military collaboration between Pyongyang and Moscow.
