NU Maintains Perfect Record in UAAP Women’s Basketball, Adamson Edges Out UP

PASAY CITY – National University (NU) continued its dominant run in Season 87 of the UAAP women’s basketball by securing their sixth consecutive victory, defeating University of the East 67-39 at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Pringle Fabruada and Nicole Pring were pivotal for NU, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. This win also marked NU’s 27th consecutive victory over UE. “We got balanced minutes today and yes, we got our sixth win, but that’s the goal for today after the final buzzer. We want to stay on top,” NU coach Aris Dimaunahan stated. NU is now looking to complete a first-round sweep when they face Ateneo on October 5.

In earlier action, Adamson University narrowly defeated the University of the Philippines 60-56, solidifying its hold on third place with a record of 4-2. Adamson’s victory was highlighted by the performance of Oluwakemi Adeshina, who contributed 18 points and seven rebounds. Elaine Etang also played a crucial role with 11 points, assisting Adamson in overcoming a halftime deficit.

The game was intensely competitive, with UP closing the gap to a single point in the final minutes before Adamson secured the win with key free throws. Adamson coach Ryan Monteclaro praised his team’s performance post-match, noting their recovery from a previous defeat to NU and their effective response to UP’s pressure defense.

For UP, Achrissa Maw and Louna Ozar stood out, combining for 31 points and 20 rebounds, but their efforts were not enough to avoid dropping to a 2-3 record this season.
