One-Week Police Crackdown Nets 142 Suspects in Laguna


CALAMBA CITY — The Laguna police arrested 142 individuals during a week-long anti-criminality operation conducted from September 9 to 15, targeting illegal drugs, gambling, wanted persons, and loose firearms.



According to Philippines News Agency, acting provincial director of the Laguna Police Provincial Office (LPPO), the crackdown led to significant arrests and seizures. Among those arrested were 50 individuals involved in illegal drugs, with officers confiscating 167.76 grams of suspected shabu and 0.9 grams of marijuana, valued at PHP1.14 million. In addition, police apprehended 30 individuals linked to illegal gambling and seized PHP19,015 in bet money. The operations also resulted in the arrest of 11 most wanted persons, 45 other wanted individuals, and the recovery of nine loose firearms. Further, officers arrested 232 people for traffic violations and other offenses, while 7,498 individuals were apprehended for violating local ordinances.
