PBBM, First Lady Arrive in Jakarta for Indonesia’s Presidential Inauguration


JAKARTA: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have arrived in Jakarta ahead of the inauguration of Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, scheduled for Sunday. Their arrival marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the Philippines and Indonesia as the nations prepare to witness a change in leadership.

According to Philippines News Agency, the First Couple’s plane touched down at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday night. Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez confirmed the arrival to reporters, stating that President Marcos and the First Lady were received with a warm welcome from senior officials of the Indonesian government and representatives of the Philippine Embassy in Indonesia.

The PCO released several photographs capturing the reception of President Marcos by both Indonesian and Philippine officials. Among those present to welcome him was Indonesian Minister of
Home Affairs, Gen. (ret.) Muhammad Tito Karnavian. The visit comes as Marcos was invited by the outgoing Indonesian President Joko Widodo to attend the inauguration ceremony of his successor, Prabowo Subianto, and his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is set to assume the vice-presidency.
