PBBM Visit Accelerates Aid Distribution in Bicol Region


LEGAZPI CITY: Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for his swift response to the severe impact of Tropical Storm Kristine on Naga City and Camarines Sur. The President’s visit has expedited the delivery of much-needed assistance to the affected areas.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Legacion acknowledged that the President’s presence on Saturday morning has accelerated the efforts of relevant agencies in providing aid. He noted that the concerns and needs of various local government units were personally communicated to the President, which facilitated a quicker response from the national government.

The distribution of 35,000 family food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has commenced. Legacion reported that 3,000 food packs have already been delivered, with 8,000 arriving recently. An additional 4,000 were expected within the day, followed by 8,000 more the next day, and the remaining 7,000 shortly thereafter.

Mayor Legacion also reported that of the 22 villages initially flooded, only seven remained underwater as of Saturday morning. The affected villages include Mabolo, Sabang, Abella, Sta. Cruz, Bagumbayan, Tabuco, and Triangulo.
