Manila: The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in energy transition. This agreement was a significant outcome of the meeting between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during Marcos’ recent working visit to the Gulf state.
According to Philippines News Agency, the MOU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including renewable energy, the use of liquefied natural gas as a transition fuel, advancements in power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, as well as initiatives in nuclear energy, energy efficiency and conservation, and the exploration of alternative fuels and emerging technologies. Department of Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla emphasized the potential of this partnership to revolutionize the energy landscape in the Philippines by attracting investments, fostering job creation, and facilitating the transfer of advanced technology to enhance local
