Philippine National Squash Championships Slated for Mid-September at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex

TAGUIG CITY — The Philippine Squash Academy is set to host the National Squash Championships from September 12-15 at the National Squash Center located within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. This tournament, crucial for national team selections, will feature top-tier competitions across multiple divisions.

According to Philippines News Agency, the event will host elite competitions for both men and women in Division 1 and Division 2 categories. This championship is not only a pivotal event for local athletes but also serves as a qualifying venue for the national squash team. Reymark Begornia, who currently holds the top ranking in the men’s division from last year’s national rankings, is expected to participate along with other leading players like David Pelino and Christopher Buraga.

On the women’s side, Jemyca Aribado leads the rankings, followed by contenders such as Aysah Dalida and Lizette Reyes. The championship aims to foster competitive spirit and sportsmanship among participants while providing them with a platform to showcase their skills at a national level.

Furthermore, the academy has also scheduled additional tournaments, including the Philippine Satellite 1 from October 22-25 and the Philippine Challenger Classic from October 28-31, which are open to international players. These events offer local athletes, especially those receiving wild cards, an opportunity to earn points and improve their international standings, enhancing their prospects of competing abroad.
