Philippine Police Affirm Legality of Operations at KOJC Compound Amid Legal Challenge

DAVAO CITY — The police operation targeting the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound and its leader, Apollo Quiboloy, continues under strict legal guidance, despite a recent court order to halt certain actions at the site, according to local law enforcement officials. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to enforce an arrest warrant against Quiboloy, who faces child abuse charges.

According to Philippines News Agency, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 11 (PRO-11), all actions taken by law enforcement at the KOJC compound adhere to legal standards and protocols. This statement comes following a temporary restraining order issued by Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 15, which directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to cease actions that could threaten the rights and safety of the KOJC members and to remove barriers restricting access to the compound.

Despite the court’s directives to remove physical barriers, PRO-11 maintains that the police operation is ongoing, supported by a valid arrest warrant for Quiboloy. Dela Rey emphasized the commitment of PRO-11 to respect the rule of law, uphold human rights, and follow police operational procedures. She noted that, in the absence of a cease and desist order from the Amparo court, law enforcement would proceed with the arrest warrant implementation.

KOJC’s legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon, has argued that the court order implicitly demands a halt to police presence in the compound, asserting that any police activity there threatens the life, liberty, security, and property of KOJC members.
