Philippine President Marcos Arrives in Laos for ASEAN Summits and Community Engagement


VIENTIANE-President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have landed in Vientiane:resident Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have landed in Vientiane, Laos, to partake in the upcoming 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and to meet with the Filipino community.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Presidential Communications Office announced that the presidential aircraft touched down at Wattay International Airport at approximately 4:16 p.m. Manila time. The First Couple was received by Philippine Ambassador to Lao PDR Deena Joy Amatong and other dignitaries from the Philippine Embassy.

The welcoming party also included high-ranking Laotian officials such as Minister of Mining and Energy Phoxay Xayasone and his spouse, alongside Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for Consular Department Soulisack Soulinthone and Protocol Department Deputy Director-General Outtama Sithiphong.

During his stay, President Marcos is s
cheduled to engage with the Filipino community in Laos on Tuesday evening. This meeting underscores his administration’s dedication to the welfare of overseas Filipino workers and their families back home.

The ASEAN Summits will span four days, during which regional leaders will discuss critical issues affecting Southeast Asia. President Marcos’s participation is expected to further diplomatic and economic ties within the region.
