Kalinga Province—Philippine National Police’s anti-narcotics unit successfully conducted a sting operation Thursday night, resulting in the seizure of PHP3.4 million worth of marijuana in Kalinga province.

According to Philippines News Agency, Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, chief of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), reported that the operation took place in Barangay West, Rizal town around 9:30 p.m., leading to the arrest of an individual known as alias “Raffy”. During the operation, police confiscated 29 bricks of dried marijuana leaves, totaling 29 kilograms, which were packed in transparent plastic bags, along with other non-drug-related items.

“The arrest of key drug suspects in operation sends a clear message that our efforts to combat drug-related crime are both effective and ongoing. The community can take comfort in knowing that we are actively working to eliminate dangerous substances from their neighborhoods,” said Matta. He emphasized the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to address drug-related issues effectively.

The suspect, now detained at the Rizal Municipal Police Station, faces charges under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This operation is part of a broader effort by Philippine authorities to crack down on drug trafficking and maintain community safety.
