PHP3 Billion Allocated for Senior Citizens’ Cash Gifts in 2025 Budget

MANILA — The Philippine government has set aside approximately PHP3 billion in the proposed 2025 national budget to provide cash gifts to elderly Filipinos, specifically those aged 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100, according to a lawmaker.

According to Philippines News Agency, this allocation will fund the initial implementation of the Expanded Centenarians Law. Of the total amount, PHP173 million is earmarked for PHP100,000 cash gifts to 1,730 new centenarians, while the remainder will be used to provide PHP10,000 incentives to octogenarians and nonagenarians. Rillo encouraged eligible seniors to register for the grants, emphasizing that the National Commission of Senior Citizens, in collaboration with various government agencies, is facilitating online registration to ensure smooth disbursement.

The expanded law extends the benefits originally reserved for those reaching 100 years old to include significant age milestones, enhancing support for senior citizens both in the Philippines and abroad.
