PNP Documents Rising Complaints Against Religious Leader Quiboloy

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is currently documenting an increasing number of complaints against Apollo Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) organization, detailing serious allegations of abuse.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo revealed that several individuals had approached the police claiming to be victims of Quiboloy during a chance interview at Camp Crame, Quezon City. The complaints have triggered a broader investigation, with the police coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development. This coordination comes after the parents of some alleged victims have stepped forward, prompting a more extensive probe into the accusations.

Quiboloy and his aides were recently detained following a police operation at a KOJC compound in Davao City. PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil commented on the gravity of the allegations, emphasizing the discovery of “new and alarming details” about Quiboloy’s purported criminal activities. Marbil noted that several victims, referred to as ‘pastorals’ within the organization, have come forward with testimonies of systemic abuse, including sexual exploitation, primarily targeting young women.

Among the reported abuses, a group known as the ‘inner circle pastorals’ has been identified, consisting of young women who were particularly vulnerable and allegedly subjected to sexual abuse by Quiboloy, with some victims reportedly as young as 12 years old. These testimonies are central to the ongoing legal proceedings against Quiboloy, highlighting a disturbing pattern of manipulation and exploitation under his leadership.

The PNP has vowed to conduct a thorough examination of the evidence to build a robust case against Quiboloy and ensure justice for the victims. As part of their commitment, the police, in collaboration with various government agencies, are extending support to the victims and safeguarding their well-being during the ongoing investigation.

Fajardo also provided updates on the legal proceedings involving Quiboloy and his co-accused. The arraignment conflicts between two courts have been resolved, with the group set to appear personally at the Pasig Regional Trial Court and via videoconferencing at the Quezon City RTC. The cases involve charges of qualified human trafficking and child sexual abuse. Security measures and logistical arrangements for transporting the accused to court are also being carefully managed to maintain order and safety.

The PNP continues to encourage anyone still affected by these issues to come forward, ensuring that all victims receive the necessary support and that their rights are upheld throughout the judicial process.
