Police Investigate Former F.T. Island Member Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct

SEOUL: Police have initiated an internal investigation into Choi Min-hwan, a former member of the rock band F.T. Island, following allegations of sexual misconduct during his marriage. The allegations, which include inappropriate behavior at nightclubs, were brought to light by Choi’s ex-wife, Yulhee, a former member of the girl group Laboum.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station is conducting a preliminary probe after a civil complaint was filed against Choi. The complaint accuses him of violating commercial sex act laws. Yulhee revealed in a YouTube video that Choi frequented nightclubs and engaged in inappropriate acts, including sticking money in her chest in front of her family, during their marriage.

The allegations have ignited public controversy, with many calling for Choi to step down from his role on the KBS show “The Return of Superman,” which features him alongside his children. In response, Choi’s agency, FNC Entertainment, announced that he would withdraw from all m
edia activities. “Choi Min-hwan feels a sense of responsibility for disappointing the public and viewers, and wishes to halt all media-related activities, including the show aired together with his children,” said the agency in a statement. “We are sorry to have caused concern and discomfort to many.”

Choi and Yulhee had a child together in 2018, married shortly thereafter, and separated last year. Choi retains custody of their three children.
