President Marcos Jr. Commits to Upholding His Father’s Legacy

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has vowed to continue the legacy of his father, the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., on the 35th anniversary of his death.

According to Philippines News Agency, during a commemoration on Saturday, President Marcos Jr. expressed his dedication to perpetuating the initiatives his father championed during his time in office. In a post on Facebook, Marcos Jr. reflected on his father’s commitment to development, justice, unity, and nationalism, emphasizing his profound belief in the Filipino people.

“My father lived in service to our country. He advocated for development, justice, unity and nationalism. Above all his beliefs was his faith in the Filipino people,” Marcos stated. “Thirty-five years ago, I made a promise to honor his life’s work by building on this foundation. In some way, I hope that I have made you proud, Dad. We miss you every day,” he added.

Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. passed away on September 28, 1989, in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the age of 72. He served as the 10th President of the Philippines from December 30, 1965, until he was deposed on February 25, 1986. On what would have been his 107th birthday earlier this month, Marcos Jr. described his father as his “guiding force” and “steady voice of reason” in his own presidency as the country’s 17th president.
