President Marcos Jr. Directs LGUs to Lead Response to Tropical Storm Enteng, National Government to Assist

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has commanded local government units (LGUs) to spearhead the response efforts against the devastation of Tropical Storm Enteng, with the national government providing backup support. This approach is also applied to handling the aftermath of a severe landslide in Antipolo, Rizal.

According to Philippines News Agency, Joey Villarama, the directive from President Marcos Jr. emphasizes the primary role of LGUs, while ensuring that the national government will contribute all necessary assistance. Villarama explained this strategy during a briefing with Palace reporters on Tuesday. Furthermore, the President has confirmed ongoing monitoring of areas affected by Enteng, emphasizing the readiness of his office to address the outcomes of the storm.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has already allocated approximately PHP 16 million in aid to more than 300,000 families impacted by the storm. Additionally, there are PHP 2.67 billion in relief resources still available for distribution. This financial backing underscores the government’s preparedness for any further consequences of the adverse weather conditions.
