President Marcos to Inaugurate Mindanao’s Longest Bridge

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is scheduled to lead the inauguration of Mindanao’s longest bridge, the Panguil Bay Bridge, on Sept. 27. The 3.169-kilometer bridge, which links Tangub City in Misamis Occidental with Tubod town in Lanao del Norte, represents a major infrastructure achievement for the region, with a total project cost of approximately PHP7.8 billion.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos confirmed his attendance after multiple invitations. The inauguration marks the culmination of a two-decade-long effort to connect the provinces, a project that has been in discussion since the 1950s. The bridge’s construction officially began in 2016, and its completion is seen as a significant milestone for the local community.

Lanao del Norte is also planning further development initiatives connected to the new infrastructure. Governor Imelda Dimaporo shared that a private firm has proposed the Panguil Bay Coastal Development and five additional projects as part of the province’s development roadmap, extending through 2050.
