PVL Finals Rescheduled Due to Typhoon, Now at Philsports Arena on September 4

Pasig City – The final match of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference has been rescheduled to September 4 at the Philsports Arena due to severe weather disruptions caused by Typhoon Enteng. The championship game between unbeaten Akari and multi-titled Creamline was initially planned for September 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum but had to be moved to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.

According to Philippines News Agency, the organizing body of the league, the decision was made in light of the typhoon’s impact, which led to widespread flooding and hazardous travel conditions in Metro Manila, particularly the roads leading to the original venue in Cubao. “Due to severe weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Enteng, the one-game finale between Akari and Creamline has been moved to September 4. Our top priority is the safety of our players and fans,” stated a news release from Sports Vision on Monday.

Additionally, the PVL has addressed a controversy arising from a semifinal match between Akari and PLDT, which occurred last Thursday. The league upheld the first referee’s decision regarding a disputed non-call on a net touch, referring to FIVB Rule 11.3.2, which permits net touches provided they do not interfere with play. Akari’s victory in this match propelled them to the finals, bringing them a step closer to a championship sweep.

PLDT’s management, after some initial reluctance, accepted the league’s ruling late Sunday. In their statement, they expressed gratitude towards their supporters and reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining the integrity of the sport.
