SEOUL: Korean American rapper and singer Jessi was summoned by the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on Wednesday for questioning regarding an assault on a fan during a private event last month.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the incident occurred on September 29 in southern Seoul, where Jessi was attending a gathering. An 18-year-old fan of the artist approached her to request a photograph. After Jessi declined, the fan apologized and was turning to leave when he was suddenly struck in the face by a man accompanying Jessi.
Jessi, aged 36, expressed remorse for the incident as she appeared at the police station. “I’m so sorry (to the victim),” she stated. “I hope we find the assailant quickly to punish him.” Reports indicate that Jessi tried to intervene and calm the assailant down before leaving the scene with her company.
Following the report of the assault over the weekend, Jessi reached out to apologize to the victim through her social media platforms. She mentioned that her response at the time of the in
cident was limited as she had only just met the man who attacked the fan.
