Red Lions and Cardinals Secure Wins in NCAA Basketball Season 100


SAN JUAN CITY: Yukien Andrada’s performance led San Beda University to a narrow 57-53 victory over University of Perpetual Help System Dalta in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball match at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on Friday. Andrada scored 21 points, aiding the Red Lions in their pursuit of defending their championship title.

According to Philippines News Agency, San Beda managed to improve their standing to 8-4, taking solo third place in the league. In addition to Andrada’s impressive game, Bismarck Lina added nine points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Jomel Puno contributed with eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. San Beda’s coach, Yuri Escueta, credited their second-quarter defense, which limited Perpetual to seven points, as a key factor in their win.

Perpetual’s rookie, Mark Gojo Cruz, made a notable contribution with 14 points, including three triples, as well as six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Despite his efforts, the Altas slid to sixth place with a 5-7 re
cord. Jearico Nuñez and Christian Pagaran also added to Perpetual’s score with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In another game, Mapua University’s Cardinals emerged victorious over Letran with an 86-78 win. Rookie Chris Hubilla was instrumental, producing 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, propelling the Cardinals to a 9-3 record and securing second place in the standings. James Miller and Kobe Monje each scored 14 points for the Knights, who suffered their third consecutive loss and now share fourth place with the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates at 6-5.
