S. Korea and Indonesia to Strengthen Ties in Defense and Electric Vehicles


SEOUL: South Korea and Indonesia have agreed to enhance their cooperation in the fields of defense, electric vehicles, and infrastructure, as announced by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. This development follows a meeting between Han and Indonesia’s newly inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the two nations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Prime Minister Han made these comments during a Cabinet meeting after returning from Jakarta, where he attended President Subianto’s inauguration ceremony. During their one-on-one meeting, both leaders expressed a commitment to deepening their collaboration in key sectors. Han urged relevant ministries to focus on the successful implementation of these cooperation projects and to explore new opportunities with countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which are playing an increasingly significant role in global diplomacy.

Han’s visit to Jakarta began on Saturday, with the primary purpos
e of attending the inauguration ceremony and reinforcing South Korea’s dedication to working closely with Indonesia’s new administration. He returned to South Korea on Monday after his diplomatic mission. In his Cabinet meeting, Han also addressed domestic concerns, calling for comprehensive measures to prevent accidents as the country approaches the second anniversary of the tragic Itaewon crowd crush.
