Samsung and LG Set to Unveil AI-Enhanced Home Appliances at IFA 2024 in Berlin

BERLIN — South Korean technology giants Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. are poised to introduce a new lineup of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered home appliances at the upcoming IFA 2024 electronics trade show in Berlin.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung will showcase a variety of products including the Bespoke AI Combo, an innovative all-in-one washer-dryer; the Bespoke AI Family Hub, a high-end refrigerator; and the Bespoke AI Steam, a new robotic vacuum cleaner. Additionally, Samsung’s AI capabilities will be highlighted in its televisions, featuring the Generative Wallpaper function that customizes background images to user preferences.

LG, not to be outdone, will reveal its latest AI-powered drum washing machine, specifically designed with a 25-inch width to cater to European market demands. This machine utilizes the AI Direct Drive motor to assess laundry characteristics such as weight, wetness, and fabric type to optimize washing methods and garment protection. Furthermore, LG will display the LG Roboking AI All-in-One robot vacuum and the CordZero A9X All-in-One Tower Combo, showcasing the company’s advancements in cleaning technology.

Prominent company executives, including Samsung’s vice chairman and head of the device experience division, Han Jong-hee, along with LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan, are confirmed to attend the event, signaling the importance of these launches in their respective product strategies.
