Samsung Lions Edge Closer to Korean Series With Decisive Victory Over LG Twins

DAEGU: The Samsung Lions delivered a powerful performance by hitting five home runs to defeat the LG Twins 10-5, placing them just one win away from the championship series in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lewin Diaz and Kim Hun-gon led the offensive onslaught for the Lions, each hitting two home runs. Kim Young-woong added another homer, marking his second consecutive game with a home run. The victory at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, located 235 kilometers southeast of Seoul, gave the Lions a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five second-round series.

The game, witnessed by a sellout crowd of 23,550 fans, saw Diaz and Kim achieve the rare feat of homering in consecutive at-bats, a milestone only reached once before by teammates in KBO postseason history. The Lions’ robust performance comes after their 10-4 victory in the first game on Sunday, which also featured three home runs by the team. The second game had been delayed a day due to rain, but the Lions
showed no signs of slowing down.

Lions’ pitcher Won Tae-in played a crucial role in the victory, allowing just one run on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings, securing his first career postseason win. The team is now poised to clinch a spot in the Korean Series if they win Game 3, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, the home ground of the Twins.
