Sarines and Chan Lead the Pack at JPGT Luisita Golf Tournament


MANILA — Vito Sarines clinched his third consecutive title and fourth overall in the boys’ 10-12 category at the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour (JPGT) Luzon Series 5, held at the Luisita Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.



According to Philippines News Agency, Sarines posted a one-under 71 in his final round, securing a total score of 148, which put him two strokes ahead of Visayas Series finalist Race Manhit and previous leg winner Ryuji Suzuki, who both tied for second place with a score of 150. Sarines, who also won titles at Pinewoods, Riviera, and Splendido, credited his strong performance to precise approach shots and effective putting.



In the girls’ 10-12 category, Aerin Chan continued her winning streak by defeating Quincy Pilac to claim her second consecutive title. Chan, an 11-year-old student from Saint Pedro Poveda, finished with a 36-hole total of 157, following a second-round score of 77. Despite challenges and nerves on certain holes, Chan adjusted her strategy on the greens to secure her victory.



In the 8-9 category, Venus delos Santos from Bulacan captured the girls’ title with a final round score of 76, bringing her total to 156. Isonn Angheng won the boys’ title with a final round of 90, finishing with a total score of 170. Both golfers expressed their excitement at winning their respective categories, with delos Santos remarking on the thrill of winning in her first participation in the tournament.
