School Teacher Arrested with P1 Million Worth of Shabu in Zamboanga Sibugay


Zamboanga City – A female school teacher was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Friday night in Zamboanga Sibugay, with authorities seizing over PHP1 million worth of shabu.



According to the Philippines News Agency, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Zamboanga Peninsula (PDEA-9) Director Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc reported that the 59-year-old teacher, a resident of Laminusa Island in Siasi, Sulu, was caught after unknowingly selling to an undercover agent. The arrest occurred around 7:25 p.m. in Purok Masigla, Barangay Poblacion, Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.



During the operation, authorities confiscated 150 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately PHP1,020,000, alongside buy-bust money and a mobile phone. The teacher is now detained at the PDEA detention facility in Zamboanga Sibugay, awaiting further legal proceedings.



In related news, three additional suspects were apprehended around 6:30 p.m. the same day during the dismantling of a drug den in Kapatid Drive, Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City. From this operation, around five grams of shabu worth PHP34,000, buy-bust money, and other illegal drug paraphernalia were seized.
