Secretary Go Affirms Coexistence of Greater Manila Bay Area and Luzon Economic Corridor Initiatives

PASAY CITY — Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, Secretary Frederick Go, emphasized the synergistic potential of the Greater Manila Bay Area (GMBA) and the Luzon Economic Corridor during a recent interaction with the media.

According to Philippines News Agency, proposed by Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian on August 21, aims to connect Cavite, Manila, Bulacan, and Bataan, and is inspired by China’s Greater Bay Area. This proposal was put forward to the Filipino-Chinese business community as a significant opportunity to boost economic growth. Speaking on the sidelines of the National Retailers Conference and Expo 2024 in Pasay City on August 30, Go highlighted the Philippine government’s openness to substantial and legitimate international investments that promise job creation and economic development.

The Luzon Economic Corridor, which Go co-chairs with US Senior Advisor to the President for Energy and Investment Amos Hochstein and Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for International Cooperation Bureau Ishizuki Hideo, focuses on a flagship cargo railway project. This project will connect Subic and Batangas through Clark and Manila, enhancing logistics across Luzon. Go reassured that both initiatives could coexist and collectively contribute to the nation’s economic landscape, fostering a welcoming environment for global investors.
