Senator Nancy Binay Commits to Enhancing Governance in Makati Mayoral Bid

MAKATI CITY – Senator Nancy Binay formally entered the mayoral race in Makati City, committing to uphold the city’s renowned social services and focus on education reforms.

According to Philippines News Agency, Binay, during her certificate of candidacy (COC) filing on Tuesday, expressed her determination to bring her Senate experience to city governance to amplify the welfare services in Makati. She emphasized her desire to instill a sense of caring governance, stating, “We want to make our citizens feel a heart that cares. This is also the direction that we want for our city, and for our civil servants to be known as someone who wholeheartedly care and provide services to every citizen of Makati.” Binay pledged to continue and expand the ‘Alagang at Serbisyong Binay’ initiative, initiated by her father, former vice president Jejomar Binay.

Running under the banner of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), Binay’s ticket includes actor and former Makati congressman Monsour del Rosario as her running mate. She will face Rep. Luis Campos, her brother-in-law, in the electoral contest. Campos is married to her sister Abby, who is concurrently seeking a Senate seat. Despite the political rivalry, Nancy Binay maintained a familial perspective, asserting, “I am not against my sister, there is no Abby Binay on the ballot so we are not enemies.”

This development follows Abby Binay’s statement that she is “hoping and praying” Nancy would not pursue the mayoralty, highlighting the intricate family dynamics influencing the political landscape in Makati.
