Seoul: South Korea on Thursday conducted its first interagency field training exercise aimed at coping with potential hazards from space debris, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said. The exercise was organized by the JCS and took place at the Air Force’s 20th Fighter Wing. It involved relevant agencies such as the Korea Aerospace Administration and the National Fire Agency.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the exercise was based on a scenario involving space debris falling on South Korean territory. Participating agencies and the military worked together to detect, track, and retrieve the debris after conducting a radioactivity test. This exercise was the first of its kind in South Korea and followed a tabletop exercise that was conducted last year.
