Donghae: South Korea’s agricultural ministry has announced the confirmation of the first highly pathogenic avian influenza case of the season at a local farm. In response, a nationwide standstill order has been issued on poultry farms.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the case was detected on Tuesday at a poultry farm in Donghae, located approximately 185 kilometers east of Seoul. This marks the first confirmed avian influenza case for the autumn season, with the previous case reported in May.
The agricultural ministry has taken immediate action by culling 780 chickens and ducks at the affected farm to prevent the spread of the virus. Additionally, the ministry has implemented a standstill order on all poultry farms across the nation. Plans are also in place to enhance disinfection measures at local habitats frequented by migratory birds to mitigate further risks.
