South Korean Deputy FM Engages in APEC Preparations in Peru

LIMA — In preparation for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Kim Hee-sang, represented South Korea at the Third Senior Officials’ Meetings in Lima, Peru. The two-week session concluded Sunday, focusing on aligning the participating countries ahead of the significant economic forum.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim engaged in bilateral discussions with counterparts from Peru, the United States, China, Japan, among other member nations, to exchange updates and coordinate efforts for the forthcoming summit. Additionally, Kim presented South Korea’s preparatory work and introduced potential main themes for the 2025 APEC summit, which South Korea is set to host in Gyeongju. APEC comprises 21 member states, including major economies such as the U.S., Canada, and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
