Spin Doctors Secure Victory Over Griffins, Share Early Lead in Spikers’ Turf


SANTA ROSA: The Spin Doctors clinched a decisive victory over the Griffins, defeating them 25-16, 25-23, 25-16 in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex. This win places the Spin Doctors in a shared early lead in the tournament, bolstered by strong performances from players Jhun Lorenz Señoron and Norwel Sanama, who each scored nine points. The victory follows their previous narrow win against Martelli Meats.

According to Philippines News Agency, Savouge Aesthetics’ coach Sydney Calderon emphasized a focused approach to matches, urging his team to take it “one step at a time” and concentrate on doing their best rather than fixating on rankings. The team’s comprehensive performance was evident, with Giles Jeffer Torres contributing eight points, including two blocks, and Louis Gaspar Gamban making seven successful attacks. Vince Imperial and Rikko Marmeto also played pivotal roles with 12 excellent sets and 13 excellent receptions, respectively.

The Griffins’ efforts were
led by Roderick Medino, who amassed 11 points through eight attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Charles Jordan Segui and Christhian Olaes added seven points each to the team’s score. Despite their efforts, the Griffins now hold a 1-2 record in the tournament.

The Spin Doctors aim to continue their winning streak in an upcoming match against the Cignal HD Spikers, scheduled for Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. Meanwhile, the Griffins will seek to improve their standing when they face DN Steel-FEU Ultras on November 3 at the PhilSports Arena.
