UST Golden Spikers Clinch Fourth Consecutive Win in V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge


MANILA — The University of Santo Tomas Golden Spikers extended their winning streak to four games in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge, defeating Emilio Aguinaldo College with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 at the Paco Arena on Sunday.



According to Philippines News Agency, despite the team’s current run, he believes there is still room for improvement. Edlyn Paul Colinares led the scoring for the Golden Spikers with 11 points, including six blocks, pushing the team closer to securing a semifinal berth. UST now holds a 4-2 record, slightly behind the joint leaders, Far Eastern University and De La Salle University, who both have 4-1 records.



Contributions also came from rookie John Julian Macam and Jay Rack De La Noche, each adding 10 points, while Rey Miguel De Vega tallied nine points, supported by eight excellent receptions and four digs. Looking ahead, UST will conclude their elimination round games against Ateneo de Manila University on September 11.



On the opposing side, Jan Ruther Abor scored 11 points for Emilio Aguinaldo College, with Frelwin Taculog adding seven points. The Generals now face a challenging path forward after recording their fifth loss of the season against only one win. Their next matchup will be against Far Eastern University on September 8.
