According to Philippines News Agency, UST advanced to the finals by defeating the reigning champions, College of Saint Benilde, in straight sets, 25-23, 25-15, 25-20. The Golden Tigresses showcased a strong offensive play, led by Angeline Poyos who scored 16 points, including 14 attacks. Teammates Regine Grace Jurado, Jonna Chris Perdido, and Mary Margaret Banagua supported the effort with 12 and 11 points each. UST Coach Kungfu Reyes praised the team’s adherence to their system and the evident harmony a
mong the players, which he believes were crucial to their victory.

FEU secured their spot in the championship match earlier in the day, overcoming the University of the East with scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-21. Chenie Tagaod stood out for the Lady Tamaraws, contributing a total of 18 points through a combination of attacks, blocks, aces, and excellent digs. FEU team captain Christine Ubaldo acknowledged the team’s quick recovery from several lapses during the game, which ultimately led to their win. She contributed six points and made 15 excellent sets.

The dethroned champions, College of Saint Benilde, will compete against the University of the East for the bronze medal. Rhea Mae Densing and Wielyn Estoque were noted performers for St. Benilde, scoring 10 and 11 points, respectively.

The best-of-three series for the finals is scheduled to begin on September 29 at 3 p.m., with the bronze medal match set earlier at noon.
