Yoon Considers Personnel Reshuffle Amid Concerns Over First Lady’s Influence

SEOUL: President Yoon Suk Yeol has committed to considering a personnel reshuffle within the presidential office to address concerns about individuals allegedly exerting undue influence on state affairs. This consideration comes in response to issues raised regarding first lady Kim Keon Hee’s public activities, as confirmed by his office on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the pledge followed a meeting held on Monday between President Yoon and ruling People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon. During the meeting, Han expressed apprehensions about the first lady’s public engagements and advocated for a personnel shake-up to mitigate controversies surrounding her. He recommended the appointment of a special inspector to investigate allegations involving the first lady.

President Yoon, in response to Han’s request, stated that he would review specific information about individuals causing problems and determine necessary actions. He emphasized that Kim Keon Hee is already reducing her public engagements
due to exhaustion and would avoid external activities unless absolutely necessary.

Regarding investigations into allegations involving the first lady, President Yoon suggested that conclusions should be withheld until the ongoing prosecution investigation is complete, as reported by a senior presidential official.
